Emily Raine is the Expanded Learning Time Partnerships Manager for Massachusetts 2020. She works closely with ELT schools and their partners – community-based organizations, arts and cultural institutions, colleges and universities, and health and mental health agencies – to develop integrated, sustainable, collaborative partnerships.
Prior to joining Massachusetts 2020, Emily worked in out-of-school time education for five years in Boston and Cambridge. In Cambridge she worked with the after-school and summer programs at the Agassiz Neighborhood Council, as both a teacher and site director. During this time she also worked for the Agenda for Children, where she helped coordinate a multi-year, citywide professional development initiative for 45 after-school programs.
Most recently Emily worked at Citizen Schools as a National Teaching Fellow, helping launch a new after-school site at the Mario Umana Middle School Academy, developing curriculum, teaching apprenticeships, recruiting and coaching volunteers, and building relationships with teachers, families, and community members in East Boston. She was active in the ELT planning process and implementation at the Umana in 2005-2006, where Citizen Schools is a major partner. While at Citizen Schools she also served in two morning partnerships with other educational institutions and non-profits, first with the Boston Public Library and then with Massachusetts 2020. This led to her coming on board full time as Partnerships Manager in July 2007.
Emily graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Arts and Ideas, and holds an M.Ed. with a specialization in Out-of-School Time Education from Lesley University. She currently resides in Cambridge, MA.
