In September 2006, 10 existing public schools across five districts in Massachusetts opened their doors with a redesigned and expanded school schedule, adding 300 hours to their school year. Currently, there are 19 schools in 9 districts serving 10,500 students in this first-in-the-nation statewide initiative.
