Support & Technical Assistance for ELT Schools

During the past four years, Massachusetts 2020 has worked side by side with teachers and leaders of hundreds of schools as they have considered expanding learning time.

Massachusetts 2020 has helped school and districts to: learn the basics of expanding time, rethink how they want school to happen for teachers and students, lead them through complex planning processes, develop robust implementation proposals, decide on a school-wide academic focus, coach principals, facilitate contract negotiations, and much more—all in the name of helping schools add time and accomplish much more for students, teachers, and families.

All of the assistance we provide to schools is based on the ELT Expectations and Indicators that were jointly developed by Massachusetts 2020 and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Our primary support for schools and districts falls into two areas:

Support & Technical Assistance for Planning Schools

Massachusetts 2020 and our team of regionally based consultants assist schools and districts as they consider expanding learning time. This support is based on Massachusetts 2020’s ELT Planning Guide and consists of regional coaching sessions, on-site guidance, and consultation. The goal of this work is to help schools and districts carry out a thoughtful, inclusive planning and redesign process that results in submitting a final ELT Implementation Proposal to be considered by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Support & Technical Assistance for Implementing Schools

Our support for implementing schools is designed to help each school clarify, reflect, align, and accelerate the work the school and its staff are already doing as they implement ELT. Our approach combines Leadership Team Sessions, on-site coaching, helping to coordinate ELT efforts with district administration, and e-networking. This support helps ELT schools develop a school-wide academic focus, utilize data to improve student outcomes, and strategically use all their resources, especially additional time, to improve student outcomes and engagement.
