This issue of ELTimes chronicles three wonderful examples of the work happening in Expanded Learning Time Schools in Massachusetts. We lead off with an interview with Angela Galvin, a special education specialist at the West Street Middle School in Southbridge. Angela talks about how additional time has allowed her to create deeper connections with her students and colleagues. Next we share a profile of the great work a number of ELT schools have done with the Boston Museum. Teachers from seven ELT schools developed in-depth, multi-disciplinary units that allowed them to more deeply explore their communities and neighborhoods as part of their expanded day. An interview with Craig Chalifoux, the principal at the B.F. Brown Middle School in Fitchburg shows how the B.F. Brown Middle School's academic focus has driven the school's faculty to deeper, more powerful work.
