TIME Magazine Features Expanded Learning Time Schools

July 17, 2009

Massachusetts Expanded Learning Time Schools and Senator Kennedy's TIME Act were recently featured in TIME Magazine as an important factor in the national momentum to increase learning time in urban districts.

Chris Gabrieli, Chairman of Massachusetts 2020, spoke about the recent success of Expanded Learning Time schools in expanding opportunities for children: "We're in the early innings of proving how to extend school hours responsibly and effectively. Middle-class kids, they get a lot more learning time outside of school — they get tutors, they get arts programs, they get music programs, they get summer camps."
