Roy Chan is the Manager of Effective Practices at Mass 2020. As a member of the Knowledge Capture team, he is responsible for documenting promising practices at schools both within and outside the Expanded Learning Time network.

From 2004 to 2006, Roy taught 7th and 8th grade Math, Social Studies, and Science in Philadelphia as a Teach for America corps member. In 2006, he joined a West Philadelphia non-profit organization, AchieveAbility, planning academic programs for low income single parent families. In 2008, he helped to facilitate the closing of 23 DC public schools as a member of Chancellor Michelle Rhee’s School Opening and Transitions team. Most recently, Roy worked with the Big 8 Texas school districts to document their use of data to measure and drive student achievement.

Roy holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin—Madison and a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School. He is originally from Mankato, Minnesota, and currently resides in Boston.
