Because your school has likely added additional time in the schedule for professional development and collaborative planning time, it is important that you start the year off with a strong plan for how to use this time.  Some questions your team will need to answer include: 

1. What topic(s) will be the focus of professional development for the first year?  
2. Who will prepare for and facilitate the professional development sessions?  
3. How will teachers be grouped to make best use of collaborative planning time?  
4. What will be the goals of these planning sessions?  
5. Will external partners participate in professional development sessions and collaborative planning time?  
6. How will professional development and collaborative planning time be evaluated to ensure the time is being used effectively? What process will teachers and the leadership team use to improve collaborative planning time from year to year?
