At Massachusetts 2020, research is central to all the work we do; we are always seeking to better document and understand our efforts to expand learning opportunities for children. To this end, we have conducted and commissioned original research on both OST opportunities and expanded learning time schools and have commissioned rigorous evaluations for each of our initiatives. Additionally, we compile some of the most significant research and data on out-of-school time and expanded learning time schools in order to inform both policymakers and practitioners and, in turn, to spread the implementation of effective practices. Finally, because the basic intent of research is to continually broaden our circle of knowledge, we also hope to stimulate new research in the fields of learning and children’s use of time.
